Just 'cause it's fun, silly... and got a beat!

Plus could this technically be considered eco-friendly too? The box looks like an old wooden box that would otherwise be thrown away, and it looks like you could use a couple balloon you've already gotten laying around... ;)

Either way, a fun video I got from my big brother G... Enjoy...

Here's hoping you're having a great weekend! Oh and Happy UN Climate Change Conference Eve!

I'm back... And the October Giveaway Winner is... jennifer57

who re-used costumes from last year! Congratulations jennifer57! And thanks for being green this Halloween!

Please excuse the delay of this post everyone 0:) I didn't have steady access to interweb while in NYC. But now I'm back to my semi-regular ;D blogging schedule. And what would my blog be without a video here and there?

Our Saturday @ Wyndham Art Supplies, Guelph

Woke up late yesterday morning 'cause I was tired from a packed weekend. Saturday was spent in Guelph. Saturday evening was spent at a delicious end-of-summer barbeque complete with grilled corn on the cob, juicy mini burgers, fresh watermelon juice... And I brought a camembert-tomate tarte (a.k.a. quiche)! Oh and there were sparklers! I'm hoping that photos will turn up on Facebook for me to post... Speaking of photos... Here are some from Saturday!

Mark (head of sales at Ecojot) and I had tons of fun set up in front of Wyndham Art Supplies. Not only was the weather gorgeous! But our Ecojot Fan Appreciation Day in Guelph coincided with the Guelph Jazz Festival! Check out some of the highlights...

Off to see tiff film #3... Yikes and it starts at 9am! So gotta ready to be picked up... Seeing three films todays:

The Vitner's Luck
The Informant! and
Google Baby.

Reviews to follow ;)

"Thank you for the music."

As my cousin Giselle said... "All controversy aside, there's no denying we've been blessed by his extraordinary artistry. He has touched all our lives with his wonderful music. RIP, King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Thank you for the music."

It's been a very sad day in pop icon history.... Farewell Farrah Fawcett and Michael Jackson... Rest in peace.

"Watch the seedlings grow..."

Off to bed after a busier eventfully unexpected weekend of sorts...  Was going to save blogging till tomorrow, but then came across Jess Chalker's newest YouTube upload titled "North Arrow," that I just had to share...

Besides, I figured it's technically already tomorrow 0;) and knowing me... I may not get blogging again till late afternoon or early Tuesday morning.

So here's hoping you all had a fabulous weekend, whether an unexpected busily eventful one or a super calm chill relaxing one ;)  And that you enjoy this new little song by Jess as much as I did!

Happy Monday and Week!
Bon Lundi et Bonne Semaine!

May we please rewind to Friday?

Wow, it certainly feels like a while since I've last blogged. My sincerest apologies. I went to Collingwood (approximately less than 2 hours north of Toronto) for a weekend retreat... It was great getting out of the city and I returned refreshed and ready to conquer the world, starting with getting back on track with my blogging!

I shall announce my February Giveaway winner tomorrow, so please stay tuned. Meanwhile, here's last Friday's post I'd started but didn't get a chance to upload since I had visions of chasing the big yellow school bus to Collingwood. Here's to a new week and getting back to a regular scheduled blogging...

--- 20 February 2009 ---
Is it really already Friday?

My genuine apologies for my absence all week. Monday was a holiday here in Ontario... Family Day to be precise (and President's Day in US?) Then of course the shorter week caught up with me, a little bug, etc. etc., yeah I'll spare you the excuses ;)

Am off to a retreat up north this weekend, which unfortunately means that I'll be missing ecoSuave** this Saturday... Thank you again to the reader who told me about it. If you're in Toronto tomorrow and find yourself with some time... Be "effortlessly gracious and green in a social manner" and check out the party at the National Ballet School.

So parties have music, and speaking of music, do remember the classic mix tape? How was that for a segway?

Well I certainly remember them. I recall exchanging cassette tapes between friends, listening to them on road trips or individually on my walkman... Then there was of course that one mix-tape from that cute older high school crush, and attempting to dissect the hidden meaning behind each song including the one he wrote and sang! Oh memories...

All right before I continue to digress, how about an eco-friendly gadget that brings back those mix-tape memories...

Although, no I'm not referring to a memory stick in a cleverly redesigned cassette box (as shown above and available at ThinkGeek). I am referring to an actual cleverly redesigned cassette-looking contraption that plays mp3s... Check it out:

I'm not sure where you can purchase it. It may just be in its idea stage. Although an iPod is definitely more convenient to carry around your entire music collection in your pocket. I love the nostalgic and sustainable (use of of kinetic energy) characteristics. The mp3 cassette player was originally featured on ecofriend.org and toxel.com.

PS - **Again, my apologies for the old post, anyone attend ecoSuave? How was it? Or what about the Oscars? Watch them last night? I missed them... How about sharing your favourite Academy Award moments?

From Rice Terraces to Husks to Light.

Is it really the last week of January? Wow, time sure flies by. Only one more week to participate in this month's Giveaway.

How was your weekend? I was feeling under the weather, and spent most of my time in bed... Which makes the following stupendous video seem very appropriate. Although it sure looks like this girl's dreams were a whole lot more exciting than mine!

My little sister, Ticia shared the above video with me. And speaking of Ticia, it turns out she mentioned in me in a recent vlog of hers! Check it out below.

And finally, speaking of family... My mum's recent Facebook status (yes, my dear mother is on Facebook) revealed that a Mr. Alexis Belonio is a recipient of of the 2008 Rolex Awards for Enterprise. Mr. Belonio is the first Filipino Associate Laureate to win Rolex's award recognizing "pioneering projects that demonstrate innovative thought and contribute to the betterment of humankind."

Turning waste into fuel, "Alexis Belonio has produced a simple, gas-fired stove powered by rice husks, one of Asian's most abundant farm wastes." My folks had the pleasure of meeting Alexis and his wife, and according to my mum, "His wife and he are so nice and cerebral yet very low-key." There's a great video explaining Belonio's award-winning work here. I'd have embedded it if I could.

I must admit, I was particularly excited to hear about this project since, I suspect the reason my parents had the pleasure of meeting the Associate Laureate was because my dad's work is along similar lines. Affectionately referred to as "the fart machine" by his children, my dad designed a small-scale biodigester a few years back. Another time, I'll have to tell you more. For now, in a nutshell, systems that turn waste into renewable energy, ie., biodigesters are large, my dad's design is small and can be used by small to medium sized farms.

Well that's it for now. Here's to making an ecoDifference big or small!
